Five Hotels We’d Happily Visit Again

Hi Reader,

Some hotels make a trip easier. Others make us want to return. We’ve stayed at each of these hotels more than once, and they’ve earned a place on our repeat-visit list for their location, comfort, service or the memories we’ve made there.

Here are five hotels we’ve happily returned to.

Park Hyatt Doha

The Park Hyatt Doha made a lasting impression with its thoughtful service, comfortable suite, and convenient location in Msheireb Downtown. We were greeted by name, enjoyed a memorable dinner at rooftop restaurant Sora, and looked forward to the breakfast buffet each morning.

Its location also made it easy to visit Souq Waqif and explore the city. It was a lovely base for our Doha stopover.

Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego

When we spent a week in San Diego, the Manchester Grand Hyatt’s waterfront location made getting around easy. We could walk to Seaport Village and nearby attractions, and our room had sweeping views of the bay.

The staff helped us arrange a bay cruise, and the rooftop pool gave us a relaxing place to unwind. It’s a hotel we’d consider again when we want to stay downtown.

Hyatt Regency La Jolla

The Hyatt Regency La Jolla is another San Diego stay we’d happily repeat. Its location works well for exploring La Jolla and other nearby coastal spots, while the hotel offers a comfortable place to recharge between outings.

Millennium Hilton Bangkok

The Millennium Hilton Bangkok stands out for its riverside setting. The Chao Phraya River gives the stay a distinctive sense of place, and the hotel makes a comfortable home base for exploring the city.

What Makes a Hotel Worth Returning To?

For us, it’s a mix of practical details and how a stay feels. A great location saves time and makes exploring easier. Comfortable rooms help us rest between busy days. Friendly service can turn a good stay into a memorable one.

Sometimes it’s also a hotel amenity or setting that makes us want to come back, like a rooftop pool, a river view, or an easy walk to the beach. When the hotel adds to the trip, it earns a place on our return list.

When you’re comparing places to stay, look beyond the room price. Check the location, what’s included, and whether the hotel fits the kind of trip you want. We use Booking.com and Hotels.com to compare stays and find options for our travels.

Hi Reader, One of our favorite activities is going whale watching whenever it’s available. Over the last 18 months, we’ve taken tours in Maui, Alaska, Dominica, and San Diego. We’ve been fortunate to see whales on every trip, and each outing has given us a different view of these remarkable animals. The destination and season shape what you might see. Maui is known for humpback whales during the winter months, while Alaska’s summer waters attract humpbacks and other species. Dominica is known...

Hi Reader, One of my favorite parts of a big vacation is finding a way to explore somewhere new along the way. On our trip to Kazakhstan, we spent two days in Frankfurt before continuing to Almaty. On the way home, we spent two days in Doha. Both stopovers gave us time to see a new country and break up a long journey. Frankfurt also gave us a chance to adjust to the time difference before heading east. In Doha, we had another welcome opportunity to explore before flying home. Two Days in...

Hi Reader, This week, we’re sharing our experience flying Qatar Airways Qsuites and how we used points to make this incredible business-class experience possible. Flying Qatar Airways Qsuites Our recent trip to Kazakhstan included several memorable flights, but the highlight was flying Qatar Airways Qsuites from Doha to Chicago. The nearly 15-hour flight gave us plenty of time to enjoy the experience. We watched movies, read, ate well, and slept intermittently. The seat converted into a fully...
