We Flew Qatar Qsuites for 70,000 Avios

Hi Reader,

This week, we’re sharing our experience flying Qatar Airways Qsuites and how we used points to make this incredible business-class experience possible.

Flying Qatar Airways Qsuites

Our recent trip to Kazakhstan included several memorable flights, but the highlight was flying Qatar Airways Qsuites from Doha to Chicago.

The nearly 15-hour flight gave us plenty of time to enjoy the experience. We watched movies, read, ate well, and slept intermittently. The seat converted into a fully flat bed, which made the long overnight flight much more comfortable.

We also loved having direct aisle access from our individual suites. Gary and I selected separate window Qsuites, which gave each of us privacy and plenty of personal space.

The crew offered to move us to center suites where the divider could be lowered, but we decided to keep our window seats. We enjoyed having our own private spaces.

The Qsuites included generous storage, a comfortable bed, and excellent service. The dining options were also a step above what we typically experience in business class.

At Hamad International Airport, we visited the Qatar Airways Business Class Lounge. The lounge includes a Louis Vuitton Lounge and offered a relaxing place to have breakfast before our flight.

How We Booked Qsuites With Points

We booked our Qsuites directly through Qatar Airways using Qatar Avios.

This was before Qatar Airways changed its booking rules, when I could still use points to book two seats for both of us. Availability can be limited, so finding two award seats on the same flight felt like a real win.

Here’s what we paid for each passenger.

CostCash valuePoints$255.98 in taxes and fees$4,025.0070,000 Avios

For each of us, we paid 70,000 Avios plus $255.98 in taxes and fees for a flight that would have cost approximately $4,025 in cash.

That gave us a total value of about $8,050 for two Qsuites tickets. Our combined cost was 140,000 Avios and $511.96 in taxes and fees.

This was one of our favorite redemptions from the trip. The points allowed us to experience a premium cabin that would have been far too expensive for us to purchase outright.

Tips for Booking Qatar Qsuites

  • Start searching as soon as your travel dates become available.
  • Check Qatar award space before transferring points.
  • Search for two seats together if you’re traveling with someone.
  • Don’t transfer points until you confirm award availability.
  • Compare the total taxes and fees before booking.
  • Consider separate window suites if you value privacy.
  • Watch for changes to airline booking rules and award availability.

Qatar Qsuites are especially worthwhile on long flights. If you have Qatar Avios or transferable credit card points, check the award calendar before paying cash for a business-class ticket.

Travel Product We Love

Gary’s Travel Vest

Gary wore his travel vest for the first time on this trip, and he loved it.

The vest has plenty of pockets, which made it easy to keep travel essentials close by while moving through airports and boarding the plane. He kept his earbuds, charging cable, snacks, phone, passport, and other small necessities in the vest.

Having those items within easy reach meant he didn’t have to keep opening his backpack during the flight. The pockets also helped him stay organized while moving through the airport.

I’ve had my own travel vest for several years and have worn it on multiple trips. It’s especially useful when we’re trying to travel with carry-on bags and backpacks instead of checking luggage.

You can find Gary’s travel vest on Amazon.

The Wrap-Up

Flying Qatar Airways Qsuites was one of the highlights of our trip. The privacy, flat-bed seat, and attentive service made the long flight from Doha to Chicago much easier.

Using 70,000 Avios and paying $255.98 in taxes gave each of us approximately $4,025 in value. That made this one of our favorite award redemptions.

Have you flown Qatar Airways Qsuites or used points to book a long-haul business-class flight? Reply and tell us about your experience.

Until next time,

Hi Reader, One of my favorite parts of a big vacation is finding a way to explore somewhere new along the way. On our trip to Kazakhstan, we spent two days in Frankfurt before continuing to Almaty. On the way home, we spent two days in Doha. Both stopovers gave us time to see a new country and break up a long journey. Frankfurt also gave us a chance to adjust to the time difference before heading east. In Doha, we had another welcome opportunity to explore before flying home. Two Days in...

Hi Reader, When we planned our first trip to Kazakhstan, we expected beautiful mountains, interesting history, and a different travel experience. What we didn’t expect was one of our favorite surprises of the entire trip. Our Unexpected Favorite in Almaty Almaty Zoo wasn’t high on our original list. In fact, we hadn’t seen it mentioned often while researching things to do. But we decided to visit, and we’re so glad we did. The zoo was clean, well-maintained, and home to a large variety of...

Hi Reader, Sometimes you don’t have to travel far to enjoy a great adventure. This summer, Gary and I attended two concerts, one in Charlotte and another close to home in Greensboro. Traveling to Charlotte for a Summer Concert We traveled to Charlotte for an outdoor concert featuring Foreigner and Lynyrd Skynyrd. Both bands put on a great show, and we were lucky to have temperatures in the 70s that evening. We did have a rain shower right at the end of Foreigner’s set, but we had checked the...
